Senior Back End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs utilizing microservices architecture.

• Build and manage production workloads on Kubernetes, including deployments, services, ingress, autoscaling, and Helm.

• Engage extensively with Elasticsearch, focusing on indexing, querying, aggregations, performance tuning, and cluster management.

• Implement distributed systems concepts to create fault-tolerant, highly available, and scalable systems.

• Enhance application performance and reliability within distributed and containerized environments.

• Design and execute robust CI/CD pipelines employing GitOps and Kubernetes-native deployments.

• Diagnose complex issues across services, Kubernetes clusters, and Elasticsearch.

• Advance system observability, monitoring, and alerting in distributed environments.

• Take part in architectural decisions and mentor engineers on best practices for distributed systems and Kubernetes.

• Collaborate with platform teams to enhance internal tooling and developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, with a minimum of 3 years operating production workloads.

• Solid experience with Elasticsearch, including indexing strategies, query optimization, and cluster scaling.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems concepts, such as consistency models, partitioning, replication, consensus, failure handling, and the CAP theorem.

• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language: Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript.

• Experience with Docker and container orchestration.

• Familiarity with cloud-managed Kubernetes services (EKS, GKE, or AKS).

• Good understanding of microservices architecture and inter-service communication patterns.

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools, with a preference for Terraform.
