Senior Back End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of features and products that interact with customers.

• Implement new developments within a few weeks of onboarding.

• Participate in projects from initial conception and design to execution and delivery.

• Work with stakeholders to enhance and refine solutions.

• Utilize lean and agile methodologies in development processes.

• Foster collaboration across different departments.

• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and convert their requirements into actionable solutions.

• Design, construct, and manage backend services for Ground News.

• Enhance observability, reliability, and overall performance.

• Report directly to the Head of Engineering.

• Collaborate with the backend chapter and Core Experience pod.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with TypeScript, including Async/Await syntax.

• At least 3 years of experience with NodeJs.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience with relational databases, preferably MySQL/Postgres.

• Familiarity with ElasticSearch, Redis/Valkey, or similar caching technologies.

• Proven history of deploying and scaling dependable services for successful consumer products.

• Experience in planning and executing safe rollouts, ensuring stability, and managing risks.

• Strong eagerness to learn and advance as a developer.

• Capacity to think critically and make well-informed decisions.

• Proficiency in writing efficient and scalable code while identifying poor coding patterns.

• Must have legal eligibility to work in Canada.
