Senior Azure Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, architect, and implement intricate features and system-level solutions with minimal supervision.

• Take ownership of the technical health, reliability, and development of one or more systems or key components.

• Facilitate technical design discussions, create design documentation, and assist in defining project scope and technical direction.

• Mentor Engineer I and II team members through code reviews, pairing, and direct coaching, which includes both onshore and offshore engineers.

• Collaborate with product, QA, and business stakeholders to define requirements and influence technical decisions.

• Promote continuous enhancement in code quality, testing methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering standards.

• Identify technical debt and systemic risks, leading remediation initiatives.

• Act as an escalation point for complex production challenges and conduct root-cause analysis.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools and establish efficient team workflows.

• Engage in a shared on-call rotation to support production reliability and ensure patient safety.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least four (4) years of professional engineering experience with a proven track record of increasing responsibility.

• Advanced expertise in at least one modern technology stack or platform pertinent to the assigned domain.

• Understanding of system design, architectural patterns, and scalability considerations.

• Capability to mentor and enhance the technical skills of other engineers.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to navigate ambiguity and make informed trade-off decisions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in utilizing AI-assisted development tools and workflows.

• Background in agile environments and leading delivery across cross-functional teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS services, including VMs, VNets, AKS, App Services, Storage, and Key Vault.

• Experience in Microsoft 365 E5 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and the Defender suite.

• In-depth knowledge of Entra ID, including SSO/SAML, Conditional Access, RBAC, and Privileged Identity Management.

• Proficiency in Azure Networking, including Azure Firewall, VNet peering, NSGs, private endpoints, service endpoints, Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, load balancers, Azure DNS, and VPN connectivity.

• Experience in Cisco Meraki administration encompassing routing, switching, and wireless.

• Scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, ARM templates, or Azure Bicep.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and build, test, and deployment workflows utilizing Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.

• Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Defender.

• Experience supporting compliance audits with infrastructure documentation and evidence.

• Familiarity with backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes for Azure workloads, including routine DR testing and validation.

• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes/AKS, including deployment, scaling, and cluster management.
