Senior Automation Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing

📋 Description

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide advanced manufacturing automation solutions throughout the global supply chain.

• Oversee and assist in the development, justification, design, implementation, and enhancement of manufacturing automation systems.

• Act as a technical authority for machining and fabrication processes across various manufacturing locations and business units.

• Create automation standards, assess emerging technologies, disseminate best practices, and foster repeatable solutions.

• Drive automation projects from initial concept to production launch.

• Analyze manufacturing processes to pinpoint automation opportunities.

• Generate technical concepts, capital estimates, and ROI business proposals.

• Function as the enterprise technical capability owner for welding and joining automation.

• Establish automation standards, specifications, and preferred technologies.

• Assist manufacturing sites and business units based on business priorities.

• Lead or assist in vendor selection, RFQs, design evaluations, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities.

• Diagnose and enhance existing automation systems.

• Recognize and replicate successful solutions across different sites.

• Contribute to the Automation & Advanced Manufacturing roadmap and technology strategy.

• Assess robotics, vision, simulation, and AI-enabled manufacturing technologies.

• Mentor site engineering teams and provide technical guidance.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Automation/Controls, Robotics Engineering, or a related field.

• A robust background in welding automation, robotic welding, or automated machining and fabrication processes.

• Over 7 years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing engineering, robotics, controls, or advanced manufacturing.

• Proven leadership in major automation and capital projects.

• Strong comprehension of robotics, controls, safety, machine integration, and manufacturing processes.

• Experience in developing automation concepts, specifications, scopes, and business cases.

• Strong project leadership and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Willingness to travel as needed to support enterprise manufacturing locations.

• Familiarity with industrial robots, including FANUC, ABB, KUKA, and Yaskawa/Motoman.

• Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, controls integration, machine vision, inspection systems, welding, automated material handling, MES, SCADA, OEE, data collection, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and production launch.

• Lean Green Belt Certification is preferred.
