Senior Atlassian Platform Engineer/SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver extensive administrative, architectural, and engineering support for VSolvit’s Atlassian ecosystem, which underpins the Navy Continuous Training Environment Work Management Infrastructure.

• Identify and document reporting, permissions, and access needs across Jira, JSM, and Confluence.

• Establish issue types, issue hierarchies, and Confluence space frameworks.

• Outline workflow requirements, including escalation procedures, approvals, and transition states.

• Optimize and improve the NCTE JSM Help Center and related project portals.

• Revamp the portal’s appearance, functionality, and layout to enhance usability and organizational coherence.

• Fine-tune user access controls and portal functionalities.

• Set up projects, spaces, and workflows in line with documented requirements.

• Assess, implement, and manage third-party plugins and add-ons.

• Record system configurations and architectural choices.

• Design, construct, and sustain integrations between Atlassian tools and PowerBI.

• Create and implement GenAI integrations, such as automated ticket triaging, virtual agent responses, knowledge base drafts, and work summarization.

• Develop custom integrations for Elastic/Elasticsearch.

• Execute performance, UI, and capability enhancements.

• Offer technical guidance and subject matter expert support.

• Plan and carry out the Atlassian IL5 Cloud migration.

• Coordinate testing, solutions, training, and sustainment with teams and stakeholders.

• Comply with working hours, deadlines, company policies, supervisor communications, and assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is Required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Security+ or an equivalent certification.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

• Over 4 years of experience as a system administrator for Atlassian products.

• Advanced proficiency in Windows (Server and Workstation) and AWS systems administration.

• Experience with PowerBI integration.

• Skilled in AI utilization.

• Proficient in Script Runner.

• Competent in Groovy Script.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.

• Strong organizational and planning abilities.

• Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

• Good interpersonal skills for engaging with internal and external customers and vendors.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Willingness to accept guidance and instructions from mentors and team leaders.

• Preferred: College-level degree.

• Preferred: Over 8 years of experience as a System Administrator for Atlassian products.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with military and/or government entities.

• Preferred: Proficiency with PowerBI.
