Senior Associate Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take an active role in delivering network solutions and providing technical support after sales.

• Collaborate closely with internal teams, service partners, and customers to ensure smooth deployment, reconfiguration, and continuous enhancement of Ciena’s solutions.

• Lead solution delivery efforts, including support for remote deployments, network migrations, and acceptance testing.

• Assist partner engineers during deployments and serve as an escalation point for technical inquiries.

• Review and validate the content of the Technical Deployment Package (TDP) with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all details are clear and actionable.

• Work alongside Sales Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Support, and Field Service to address design or product-related challenges.

• Maintain comprehensive as-built documentation for future upgrades and reference.

• Participate in customer kick-off meetings and offer guidance to pre-sales teams to align network design with serviceability standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience in a network engineering role or a similar technical position.

• Fundamental theoretical and/or practical knowledge in one or more areas: Layer 0/1 (SDH, DWDM, ROADM, Control Plane, etc.), Layer 2-3 (IP protocols), Scripting/DevOps (e.g., Python, Java, Ansible).

• Excellent customer service and communication abilities, including fluency in German (native) and English (both written and verbal).

• Proficient in MS Office applications (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Capability to manage multiple projects, analyze technical data, and convert designs into deployable solutions.

• Willingness to travel (~25%) and support night-time maintenance windows (~25%).
