Senior Associate General Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Provide practical, business-oriented contracting advice to business leaders, risk management, compliance, government relations, and other stakeholders.

• Oversee legal support for vendor agreements and ensure contracts align with BECU's strategic goals and risk framework.

• Evaluate, draft, and negotiate intricate technology, SaaS, AI, data privacy, and commercial agreements.

• Create and sustain contract playbooks, templates, and standardized risk strategies.

• Collaborate on the implementation and adoption of BECU's Contract Lifecycle Management platform and process enhancements.

• Guide, mentor, and develop the current non-lawyer contract team.

• Act as a senior escalation point for major legal contracting concerns.

• Assist with legal operations, outside counsel management, policy formulation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Develop and enhance legal contracting and vendor governance capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.

• Active Bar membership in good standing.

• Over 10 years of legal experience in a law firm, financial institution, fintech, regulatory agency, or a combination thereof.

• At least 5 years of management or leadership experience required.

• Occasional travel may be necessary.

• Strong skills in legal drafting, analysis, and issue identification.

• Extensive experience with SaaS and technology contracts, DPAs, and AI addendums.

• Ability to weigh legal risks against business objectives.

• Proficiency in GLBA, CCPA, Open Banking, and other data privacy regulations.

• Capability to simplify complex legal and regulatory concepts into clear, concise, actionable guidance.

• Keen interest in emerging technologies, evolving business models, and changing regulatory landscapes.
