Senior Appian Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Appian applications that support intricate business and operational workflows.

• Assist in the remediation, conversion, and modernization of custom Appian plugins to ensure compliance with updated platform standards and compatibility requirements.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to custom plugins, integrations, and the functionality of Appian applications.

• Collaborate with architects and senior developers to implement scalable and maintainable technical solutions.

• Support Appian platform upgrades and related modernization efforts for applications.

• Aid in the development and maintenance of reusable components, shared services, and integration frameworks.

• Engage in technical design discussions, code reviews, and implementation activities for solutions.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment instructions, and support artifacts.

• Facilitate integration efforts involving APIs, web services, databases, and external systems.

• Write and optimize SQL queries to enhance application functionality and fulfill reporting requirements.

• Ensure that development activities are in line with coding standards, security protocols, and best practices.

• Work alongside QA teams to assist in defect resolution, testing activities, and preparation for deployment.

• Take part in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

• Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, developers, QA teams, and stakeholders to achieve successful delivery outcomes.

• Assist with estimation, technical planning, and coordination of delivery activities.

• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution across development and testing environments.

• Contribute to a collaborative team atmosphere focused on continuous improvement and quality delivery.

• Promote application modernization initiatives within complex Appian environments.

• Aid in efforts related to plugin remediation, reduction of technical debt, and optimization of the platform.

• Identify opportunities to enhance development efficiency, maintainability, and operational stability.

• Stay updated on Appian platform advancements, development best practices, and emerging capabilities.

• Support knowledge-sharing initiatives across the broader Appian practice, including exposure to Appian AI capabilities when applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience.

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in Appian development.

• Over 2 years of experience supporting Appian application development in Agile software delivery environments.

• More than 2 years of experience with custom Appian plugins, Java-based development, or integration components.

• At least 2 years of experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.

• Over 2 years of experience utilizing Git/GitLab or similar source control workflows.

• US Citizenship or Green Card is mandatory (as required by the federal government for this position). Must be eligible to obtain Public Trust clearance.
