This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate across functions with product management, design, and engineering to create exceptional, user-focused Android experiences.
• Design, develop, and sustain Android applications utilizing Kotlin, prioritizing performance, scalability, and usability.
• Architect and implement resilient, maintainable solutions that align with best practices and long-term product objectives.
• Engage in feature planning, technical design, and effort estimation processes.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve intricate product and performance challenges.
• Enhance and uphold code quality through testing, code reviews, and ongoing refactoring efforts.
• Create and maintain unit tests to guarantee reliability and stability.
• Keep the codebase up-to-date with the evolving Android platforms, frameworks, and industry standards.
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
• Document code, systems, and processes to promote team knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a robust engineering culture.
• Stay informed about emerging Android technologies, tools, and trends.
• Over 7 years of professional software development experience, with more than 5 years dedicated to Android development.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development, including experience in building scalable UI, state management, and app architecture.
• Proven track record in designing, developing, and launching high-quality, scalable Android applications.
• Deep understanding of software architecture patterns (such as MVVM, MVC, etc.) and best practices.
• Solid experience in integrating RESTful APIs, backend services, and third-party libraries.
• Strong grasp of UI/UX principles and the ability to create intuitive user experiences.
• Demonstrated capability to lead technical initiatives and deliver projects from inception to completion.
• Experience in mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and enhancing team code quality.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with product, design, and backend teams.
• Ability to make informed technical decisions and balance trade-offs in dynamic environments.
• Extensive experience with testing practices (including unit testing, UI testing, and TDD) and maintaining high code quality standards.
• Proficient in Git and modern development workflows.
• Proven success in high-growth or startup settings, demonstrating ownership and adaptability.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a collaborative attitude.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
