Senior AI Solutions Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architecture, design, and development of enterprise AI solutions that utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

• Create scalable, secure, and maintainable AI frameworks that support enterprise healthcare applications.

• Establish solution architecture, data flows, system interfaces, AI orchestration, and integration methodologies.

• Assess AI technologies, services, and frameworks to meet current and anticipated project requirements.

• Ensure the architecture accommodates approved future phases without extending the authorized Minimum Viable Product (MVP) scope.

• Design AI solutions that leverage Amazon Bedrock and AWS cloud services.

• Construct secure AI pipelines for approved document access and processing, retrieval, vector search, prompt orchestration, and AI-assisted summarization.

• Develop strategies for model selection, prompt management, retrieval enhancement, and AI performance optimization.

• Establish monitoring and evaluation strategies to identify model, prompt, retrieval, and data drift, addressing any decline in accuracy, safety, or clinical relevance.

• Refine AI architectures for scalability, operational efficiency, reliability, and response time.

• Work closely with DevSecOps teams to facilitate deployment automation and operational readiness.

• Design integration solutions for AI services and existing enterprise healthcare applications.

• Specify secure interfaces using REST APIs and contemporary integration patterns.

• Ensure solutions comply with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, and CCD.

• Partner with application development teams to embed AI capabilities into clinician workflows.

• Advocate for uniform architecture patterns and engineering best practices across JLV development teams.

• Design AI solutions that adhere to Federal cybersecurity, privacy, and Responsible AI standards.

• Integrate Human-in-the-Loop (HITL), source traceability, approved data boundaries, retention and purge controls, explainability, auditability, and governance principles into the solution architecture.

• Assist with Authority to Operate (ATO), AI governance, Security Impact Analysis (SIA), and technology approval processes.

• Ensure the secure management of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to develop secure AI architectures and operational controls.

• Act as the technical lead for AI architecture within the JLV contract.

• Mentor software engineers and provide architectural guidance throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Engage in architecture reviews, design discussions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical estimation.

• Generate architecture documentation, system design artifacts, interface specifications, and implementation guidelines.

• Present technical strategies and architectural suggestions to Government leadership and stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 10 years of experience in designing enterprise software solutions.

• More than 5 years of experience in designing cloud-native architectures using AWS or similar cloud platforms.

• Proven experience in architecting Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Generative AI solutions.

• Experience in implementing enterprise applications using Amazon Bedrock or comparable AI platforms.

• Experience leading technical architecture across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Strong grasp of enterprise architecture principles and cloud-native application design.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Public Trust clearance.

• Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), or other Federal healthcare organizations.

• AWS Solutions Architect, AWS AI, Machine Learning, or other AWS cloud certifications are highly sought after.
