
Senior AI Product Builder, Inventory Optimization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +33 more states.
• Take ownership of the complete product lifecycle from start to finish: including AI-enhanced discovery, story/spec creation, prototyping, production PR, and outcome evaluation.
• Manage forecasting, placement, and replenishment decision-making surfaces to optimize inventory.
• Establish product contracts for demand predictions and distribution recommendations, integrate them into merchant workflows, and assess both adoption and forecast precision.
• Conduct customer discovery and synthesize insights from tickets, interviews, behavioral data, and competitive indicators by utilizing AI tools.
• Present products to merchants and partners while gaining insights into competitive landscapes and unique selling points.
• Evaluate product metrics to identify usage trends and anomalies, while establishing success metrics and thresholds for discontinuation.
• Maintain a prioritized roadmap, organized by impact and speed of delivery.
• Assess solution compatibility with ShipBob’s architecture, service boundaries, data structures, and API-driven data agreements.
• Draft story/specs, review AI-generated code, and facilitate the transition of prototype updates into production PRs.
• Develop experiment hypotheses and make rollout-or-kill decisions based on AI-derived insights.
• Engage in architecture reviews and make decisions regarding build vs. buy vs. delay.
• Map the Inventory Optimization domain, deliver an initial PR, and execute a measurable rollout-or-kill decision within the first 90 days.
• Report directly to a Director, AI Product Builder.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, product engineering, or a comparable field.
• Proven experience using AI tools in a professional environment.
• Capability to craft precise story/specs that AI tools can directly engage with, including state machines, business rules, data contracts, and edge cases.
• Technical proficiency to interpret data models, assess API contracts, and spot inconsistencies in AI-generated code.
• History of delivering functioning prototypes or production-ready code.
• Ability to define success metrics and kill thresholds during the specification phase and monitor them post-launch.
• Experience in supply chain, fulfillment, logistics, transportation, or e-commerce technology.
• Comfortable working within a fail-fast corporate culture.
• Exceptional written communication skills.
• Nice to have: hands-on experience with Claude Code, Driver.ai, Cursor, Replit, V0, or Figma AI.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Python, SQL, or TypeScript.
• Nice to have: experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, replenishment, or large-scale multi-node placement and distribution optimization.
• Nice to have: experience in transitioning a product team from a traditional software development lifecycle to an AI-native operational model.
