This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +33 more states.
• Take ownership of the complete product lifecycle autonomously: AI-enhanced discovery → story/spec → prototype → production PR → outcome evaluation. You will be responsible for the results, not merely the transition.
• Conduct customer discovery independently and utilize AI tools to consolidate research from tickets, interviews, behavioral data, and competitive insights.
• Exhibit extensive functional and technical expertise of the products you manage from start to finish. Present demos to merchants and partners independently; comprehend the competitive landscape and key differentiators.
• Utilize AI tools independently to assess product metrics, discern usage trends, and highlight anomalies. Establish success metrics and kill thresholds during the specification phase without guidance.
• Maintain a prioritized automation roadmap sorted by impact multiplied by speed. Employ AI tools to synthesize competitive intelligence, market trends, emerging warehouse automation capabilities, and customer insights into strategic contributions.
• Identify the most significant productivity and quality improvement opportunities within ShipBob’s fulfillment operations. Assess automation hardware options, recommend the optimal strategic fit, and manage the WMS-side product work to integrate them into operations.
• Independently determine if a proposed solution aligns with ShipBob's architecture without requiring Engineering translation. Grasp service boundaries, data structures, and how merchant and partner API usage influences data contracts.
• Route changes through prototype-then-PR on your own. Craft clear story/specs and review AI-generated code prior to submission. Consistently enhance PR promotion rates.
• Establish experiment hypotheses with defined kill thresholds. Make day-7 rollout/kill decisions based on AI-sourced data.
• Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as required.
• Over 5 years of experience in product management, product engineering, or a related field, with proven hands-on experience using AI tools in a professional environment.
• Demonstrated capability to write story/specs that AI tools can directly execute—state machines, business rules, data contracts, edge cases—not narrative PRDs.
• Technical proficiency: able to interpret a data model, assess an API contract, and recognize when AI-generated code diverges from the intended architecture.
• History of successfully delivering working prototypes or production code, not just Figma designs or presentation decks.
• Strong ownership of outcomes: sets success metrics and kill thresholds at the specification stage and monitors them post-launch.
• Experience in supply chain, fulfillment, logistics, transportation, or e-commerce technology.
• Proven experience in shaping automation product strategy within a fulfillment, warehouse, or manufacturing setting—selecting automation hardware, integrating it with a WMS or shop floor system, and achieving measurable improvements in productivity and quality.
• Comfortable working in a fail-fast environment. Rapidly acknowledging mistakes is a feature here—taking a slow approach to appear correct is viewed as a failure mode.
• Exceptional written communication skills: your output includes specs, not just meeting notes.
