Senior AI Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design agents that not only respond to inquiries but also perform tasks.

• Provide agents with secure and governed access to necessary systems and data for action.

• Create, construct, and implement MCP servers through two distinct tracks.

• Develop the OAuth and credential management framework.

• Collaborate with R&D Architecture to establish production-ready standards for the Placer MCP server.

• Manage incoming connector requests and bug reports from various departments within the company.

• Develop and support Cowork plugins and Claude skills.

• Assume responsibility for Placer's internal BI environment on Databricks.

• Create and manage tools to monitor internal AI tools usage.

• Enhance compute, storage, and networking efficiency across the internal AI platform.

• Apply security best practices to AI platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in backend engineering.

• Previous experience with MCP servers, LLM tool utilization, or AI agent frameworks.

• Background in data engineering or analytics tools is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, OAuth 2.0, and credential management, including Google Cloud authentication patterns (gcloud, service accounts).

• Proven experience in building and deploying services on Kubernetes or similar container infrastructure.

• Familiarity with Databricks or comparable data warehousing/data lakes is advantageous.

• Ability to thrive in an environment without a predefined playbook — AI platform work at Placer is innovative; role definitions, standards, and tools will be developed over time.

• Excellent communication skills; you will frequently bridge the gap between business demands and engineering specifications.

• Capable of managing conflicting priorities among R&D Architecture (standards), AI Enablement (implementation), and business teams (requests).
