This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with the AI Engineering lead to deliver features from the outset, quickly transitioning into autonomous contributions on the Elixir platform.
• Complete a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) rotation during the first two months — immerse yourself with a business function to understand the platform's requirements by experiencing them firsthand.
• Contribute to the core functionalities of Elixir’s platform: skill execution runtime, tool/MCP registry, retrieval and memory primitives, evaluation harnesses, observability and cost telemetry, as well as multi-model routing.
• Expand the skills surface area: creating, editing, managing version control, AI assistance, testing, benchmarking, and permissions.
• Develop event-driven background agents — integrate support-ticket pre-triage, ambient agents, and webhook-driven flows into Elixir as part of its native event-driven architecture.
• Productize the outputs from FDEs — identify platform-level requirements so that each engagement builds on previous ones rather than being isolated.
• Enhance Elixir's security for production — handle PII, manage access control, implement audit logging, establish evaluation gates, utilize sandboxing, and ensure multi-tenant isolation.
• Maintain transparent and proactive communication with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Exhibit self-sufficiency by effectively managing tasks, problem-solving, and adhering to deadlines, while remaining adaptable to new challenges.
• At least 5 years of experience as a software, data, or AI engineer.
• Proficient in Python and at least one strongly typed language (such as TypeScript, C#, Java, or similar).
• Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals: complexity analysis, recursion, algorithms, and data structures.
• Practical experience with databases — understanding of ACID transactions, contention, indexing, and migrations in both SQL and NoSQL environments.
• Experience building a complete full-stack application from the ground up using a modern JavaScript framework (React or Svelte).
• Basic knowledge of Linux, sandboxed execution, micro-VMs, and containerization.
• Open to training and coaching — best suited for individuals without rigid framework preferences who thrive in an intensive mentorship setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and business teams.
• Remote-first work environment.
• Unlimited paid time off.
• 401(k) plan with employer match.
• A diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
• A fun and engaging work atmosphere.
