Senior AI Engineer – Casualty, Claims Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of agents from inception to performance measurement within a specific problem domain.

• Design and develop LLM-driven agents and workflows, encompassing orchestration, tool utilization, retrieval, structured extraction, and human-in-the-loop assessment.

• Create evaluations alongside data labelers and subject matter experts, executing them with each modification.

• Ensure agents are production-ready by implementing guardrails, observability, cost and latency optimization, and meticulous management of sensitive health information.

• Deliver quantifiable enhancements to existing agents.

• Develop agents that successfully enter production with clients, supported by evaluation findings.

• Create AI-native solutions for CCC's auto casualty sector, focusing on medical billing, claims decision support, and an agentic rules platform.

• Write production-level code to deploy AI agents utilized by claims professionals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 5+ years of professional experience in software or ML engineering, including significant recent involvement with LLMs.

• Strong production engineering expertise in Python, including API service development, and familiarity with TypeScript.

• At least one year of experience launching LLM-driven products for actual users, incorporating retrieval methods (RAG, embeddings, vector search) and prompt engineering.

• Background in designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems, with a consistent practice of measuring before and after every modification.

• A quantitative approach: you are adept with metrics, sampling, error analysis, and discerning when a result is valid.

• Proven experience in accelerating delivery with AI-assisted or agentic engineering tools, with demonstrable examples.

• Proficiency in document comprehension, OCR, or extraction from complex documents.

• Experience in fine-tuning LLMs or working with multimodal data.
