Senior AI Engineer

📋 Description

• This position serves as a dual-focus technical leadership role within our Engineering organization, overseeing company-wide AI productivity initiatives while also functioning as a senior software engineer for our primary product.

• You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining AI-driven workflows and tools that enhance delivery and improve quality across engineering and various departments.

• You will create and implement training strategies that assist all employees in effectively and securely adopting AI technologies.

• This role plays a part in a globally distributed SaaS platform utilized worldwide to seamlessly and securely connect guests and residents (along with all their devices) to the internet, providing an at-home Wi-Fi experience.

• As a Senior AI Engineer, you will remain at the forefront of AI technology, assessing and integrating new tools and methodologies into the organization while advocating for security-first practices in a rapidly changing AI environment.

• Reporting Relationships: This position reports to a Senior Engineering Manager and has no direct reports. It offers AI and technical leadership to all engineering teams and collaborates with other departments on AI adoption initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience.

• At least 3 years demonstrating leadership in AI adoption and tooling.

• Proven hands-on experience in creating AI-powered workflows, developer tools, or automation systems that have resulted in measurable productivity improvements across teams or organizations.

• A deep understanding of the current AI/ML landscape—including foundation models, agentic AI patterns, LLM orchestration, tool usage, and multi-step reasoning—along with the ability to translate rapidly changing capabilities into practical and secure solutions.

• Experience in developing and delivering AI/technical training programs, workshops, or enablement initiatives for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong awareness of security issues related to AI, including risks associated with data leakage, prompt injection, model misuse, and compliance implications of AI tool adoption.

• Extensive expertise in AWS cloud services, with practical experience in designing and managing complex serverless and event-driven architectures.

• Strong proficiency in two or more object-oriented programming languages.

• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases such as MS SQL Server, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.

• Proven track record in building and operating high-transaction, low-latency backend systems at scale.

• Demonstrated experience managing sensitive data in multi-tenant SaaS environments with a security-first approach (including encryption, access control, data isolation, and compliance).

• History of end-to-end ownership of large-scale solutions—driving the full architecture from design to production, not just contributing to a portion.

• Experience with RESTful API design and event-driven integration patterns.

• Proven experience in delivering products as part of an Agile team.

• A strong desire to assist a successful company in scaling existing cloud-based services while also making significant contributions to the development of new products.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for a diverse audience.
