Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML systems from initial prototypes to robust production services.

• Create and maintain data pipelines, retrieval layers, and training/inference workflows that cater to LLM and various other model types.

• Innovate and refine retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) setups, focusing on chunking strategies, embedding selection, and vector search architecture.

• Execute and optimize agentic/multi-step workflows that coordinate tools, APIs, and models to accomplish intricate tasks.

• Implement observability features for AI behavior, including evaluations, logging, metrics, and guardrails to oversee quality, drift, and failures.

• Integrate models with existing application backends and APIs, while designing user-friendly interfaces for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Enhance systems for efficiency and cost-effectiveness (token usage, caching strategies, routing between models, etc.).

• Participate in architectural decisions, code reviews, and the technical strategy development within your team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years dedicated to AI/ML features in production settings.

• Proficient programming skills in Python (or comparable languages) along with a strong foundation in software engineering principles.

• Practical experience in working with modern LLMs and generative AI tools (including prompting, fine-tuning, RAG, or agents).

• Experience with at least one major cloud service; expertise in AWS is advantageous.

• Knowledge of AI/LLM orchestration frameworks and evaluation instruments.

• Experience in designing and integrating REST or gRPC APIs.

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Awareness of security and safety issues related to AI systems (such as prompt injection, handling PII, access control, etc.).

• Ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces and make practical trade-offs under constraints.
