Senior AI Design – Engineering Process Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Revamp the design workflow by helping us determine the integration of design in a process where PMs utilize AI tools to create clickable prototypes prior to handoff.

• Define the new function of design as a quality controller, system thinker, and refinement layer.

• Develop and uphold the design system to ensure our component library, tokens, and patterns are sufficiently robust so that AI-generated prototypes approach production quality from the outset.

• Assess prototype fidelity by reviewing AI-generated and PM-created prototypes, converting them into production-ready Figma files, and establishing quality gates for engineering handoff.

• Introduce AI-native design tools by incorporating your experience with AI design tools into our workflow. Demonstrate to the team what can be achieved and what is feasible. Provide training to PMs on how to create better prototypes.

• Establish standards and templates by creating reusable prompt templates, prototype review checklists, and workflows for design-to-Figma translation that can scale across the team.

• Collaborate with Product, Solutions, and Engineering teams by working closely with PMs developing prototypes, engineers deploying code from those prototypes, and stakeholders reviewing the results.

• Evaluate and enhance the quality of AI-generated code by assessing the frontend code produced by AI tools based on prototypes. Identify areas where AI output requires human refinement and assist engineers in setting review standards for AI-assisted pull requests.

• Assist in defining AI-assisted engineering workflows by bringing hands-on experience with Cursor, Copilot, and Claude/Junie into our engineering practices. Aid the team in constructing prompt templates, testing patterns, and code review standards for AI-generated code.

• Ensure consistency from prototype to production by confirming that what is built aligns with what has been validated. You should be able to comprehend both the Figma file and the React component and detect any discrepancies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of product design experience, including at least 1–2 years of actively utilizing AI tools in your design workflow (not merely experimenting, but actually delivering results).

• Proficient in frontend engineering with the ability to read and assess React/TypeScript code, comprehend component architecture, and have a knowledgeable stance on whether AI-generated code is ready for production. While you don’t need to be a full-time engineer, you should be competent.

• Practical experience with AI tools in both design and coding, such as Lovable, v0, and Bolt for prototyping, as well as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude for coding. You should have experience with both aspects.

• Strong background in design systems, having built or maintained a component library at scale.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity, as this role involves creating a new process rather than adhering to an established one. You need to be both opinionated and adaptable.

• Experience in B2B SaaS or platform products, with an understanding of complex, multi-stakeholder workflows being essential. Familiarity with HR tech, fintech, or compliance-heavy sectors is advantageous.

• Outstanding communication skills are essential. You will liaise with PMs, engineers, and leadership, requiring the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and assertively push back when necessary.
