Senior AI Controls Solutions Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and Data Scientists (DSs).

• Utilize Phaidra’s products along with your understanding of customer requirements to develop a model of the facility for integration with our product offerings.

• Partner with the product team to identify and articulate product requirements based on individual customer specifications and needs.

• Provide continuous support for deployed products, including troubleshooting support issues and monitoring performance across various customers.

• Serve as both an internal and customer-facing Subject Matter Expert (SME), spearheading a variety of initiatives, including delivering premium support to clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10-15 years of experience as a controls engineer, programmer, or in a similar role.

• Expertise in HVAC and Data Center cooling control methods and strategies, with a solid understanding of chiller plant fundamentals, configurations, and operational sequences.

• Ability to function autonomously as a senior team member, managing intricate projects spanning multiple customers.

• Knowledge of applied thermodynamics relevant to cooling systems, refrigeration systems, and hydronics.

• Experience in designing, programming, or a strong working knowledge of industrial and commercial control systems and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.

• Familiarity with the applications and control strategies for air side chilled water and direct expansion cooling systems.

• Strong capability in collaborating with data center operations teams to address field operations challenges and issues.

• Experience in programming control systems using PLCs, ladder logic, text, or block programming languages.

• A passion for problem-solving and employing scalable solutions to tackle recurring issues.

• Solid educational foundation in one or more relevant disciplines related to your area of expertise, such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Control Theory, Applied Mathematics, or other engineering and applied science fields.

• Proficient in reading and writing Python scripts (in partnership with the software engineering team) to implement Insights and develop efficient tools.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex domain-specific concepts to non-experts, as well as clarifying intricate AI and ML concepts to non-AI/ML customers.

• Ability to manage large sections of documentation, promoting a culture of high standards in documentation and communication.

• Strong understanding of customer needs, fostering a culture of pragmatic urgency and customer satisfaction.

• Competence in leading project delivery within the team, working independently, and motivating others to achieve significant tasks that cannot be completed alone.

• Capability to mentor peers, delegate tasks within the team, manage project stakeholders, build relationships with other departments at Phaidra, and collaborate with management on roadmaps, backlogs, and work planning.

• Employ AI tools strategically to enhance delivery, improve quality, and guide others in effective AI-assisted workflows.
