Senior Advisor – Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership and advisory oversight across engineering teams and initiatives.

• Define and enhance system architecture and design standards to ensure scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.

• Guide teams in selecting technologies, evaluating architectural trade-offs, and implementing best practices.

• Act as a technical mentor for senior and mid-level engineers, fostering overall engineering maturity.

• Oversee and refine CI/CD, release management, and DevOps practices to facilitate reliable and high-velocity delivery.

• Establish robust repository management and code governance practices utilizing platforms like GitHub, GitLab, or their equivalents.

• Collaborate with product, business, and leadership stakeholders to align business objectives with technical strategy.

• Review critical designs, lead architectural discussions, and provide final technical approvals as necessary.

• Promote the adoption of engineering best practices, encompassing security, observability, performance, and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering.

• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails in production settings.

• Solid expertise in JavaScript and contemporary web development methodologies.

• Extensive experience with SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) as well as NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).

• Proven capability to design intricate systems and platforms, including those that require high availability and scalable architectures.

• In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).

• Strong proficiency in Git-based source control and repository management.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions across multiple teams.
