Senior Accounting Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Manage the complete bookkeeping cycle for MNP clients in a dynamic setting.

• Prepare and oversee payroll along with associated government remittances/filings, including the recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll, and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions.

• Generate T4s, T5s, and Records of Employment.

• Offer support and training to junior members of the bookkeeping team.

• Execute the month-end and quarter-end closing processes.

• Maintain, monitor, and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, and intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads.

• Detect issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, and communicate with the supervisor or engagement partner to formulate solutions.

• Track work in progress and manage budgets; identify opportunities that fall outside the current scope.

• Interact with government entities regarding information requests, assessments, and payments.

• Coordinate with clients on administrative issues and provide functional guidance to team members.

• Collaborate effectively and cultivate relationships with clients and colleagues.

⛳️ Requirements

• A certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting is a plus.

• A minimum of 3 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience.

• Familiarity with cloud accounting software such as QuickBooks Online (QBO) or Xero is preferred.

• Experience in preparing T4s and T5s.

• Basic understanding of accounting principles and processes.

• Experience with desktop software like QuickBooks Desktop and Sage 50 is advantageous.
