Senior Accounting Consultant – Technical Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Lead the accounting function during periods of growth and transformation.

• Review and manage Right-of-Use assets and lease liabilities to ensure compliance.

• Oversee the accounting of Property, Plant, and Equipment (PPE), enhancing and enforcing capitalization policies.

• Evaluate complex transactions and ensure readiness for audits.

• Collaborate with leadership to improve accrual methodologies.

• Establish and uphold reconciliation standards while reviewing controls.

• Prepare comprehensive audit schedules to comply with US GAAP.

• Actively engage in software migration and the design of workflows.

• Assess financial risks and implement enhancements to internal controls.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Accountant, Financial Auditor, or Assistant Controller with substantial, hands-on knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 842 and complex capitalization policies.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with QuickBooks Online are essential.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is mandatory.

• CPA or CIA designation is highly desirable.

• Exceptional analytical abilities with a proven track record of interpreting complex financial data and applying advanced accounting judgment.

• Strong organizational capabilities with a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to operate independently, adapt to changing timelines, and excel in a fully remote setting.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, proficient in educating staff on policies and presenting clear findings to external auditors and leadership.
