
Senior Accounting and Finance Consultant – Controller Level

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Assist in coordinating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, which encompass journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger to ensure precise transaction classification.
• Provide support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, commissions, and fixed-asset operations.
• Guarantee that payroll, commissions, accounts payable, and debt payments are executed accurately and punctually.
• Maintain a consistent chart of accounts across various business units and legal entities.
• Review and authorize balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare regular financial reporting packages, operational analyses, and summary reports.
• Conduct weekly expenditure analyses, 13-week cash-flow scorecards, KPI reporting, and variance analyses.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting, reporting any significant variances.
• Develop and uphold frameworks for accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and allowance for credit losses.
• Examine portfolio performance, cash collections, funding activities, and operational trends.
• Monitor cash balances, funding activities, reconciliations, and cash forecasts.
• Supervise financial obligations, reporting needs, and compliance-related financial tasks.
• Create, document, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and finance procedures.
• Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and other third-party partners.
• Lead or assist in the implementation and optimization of ERP, accounting, and reporting systems.
• Work closely with operations, servicing, and settlements teams to enhance data flow and process efficiency.
• Automate manual processes and establish a scalable finance infrastructure.
• Support strategic initiatives, special projects, acquisitions, and process enhancements.
• Oversee and assist global accounting contractors and finance support staff.
• Act as the primary finance lead for daily accounting operations and cross-functional collaboration.
• Partner with finance leadership and operational stakeholders.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 7–10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
• A minimum of 3 years in a Controller or accounting leadership position.
• Experience in specialty finance, healthcare finance, lending, receivables, financial services, or similar sectors is strongly preferred.
• Robust technical accounting knowledge, including U.S. GAAP or equivalent international accounting standards.
• Proven experience leading month-end close processes, preparing financial statements, and managing external audits.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, index-match, and financial modeling.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERP/accounting systems.
• CPA or CPA-equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
• Public accounting experience is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
