
Senior Accountant – Nonprofit

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the main day-to-day accounting contact for a diverse portfolio of complex nonprofit clients.
• Carry out daily accounting tasks in collaboration with Controllers and CFOs.
• Manage intricate fund accounting frameworks and monitor restricted funds and grant activities.
• Oversee grant billing, drawdown requests, and funder reporting with minimal oversight from the Controller.
• Independently resolve complicated reconciling issues and accounting discrepancies.
• Provide informal mentorship to Accountants regarding nonprofit accounting standards and best practices.
• Recognize and execute process enhancements.
• Track budget discrepancies and deliver actionable insights to Controllers and CFOs.
• Accurately and compliantly prepare and process client payroll.
• Establish and uphold internal controls across client accounts.
• Utilize existing processes and tools, including code red alerts, to detect and prevent fraud.
• Achieve or surpass billable hours targets while maintaining high service quality.
• Complete time tracking, capacity planning, and participation in quarterly initiatives.
• Engage in the Brand Ambassador program.
• Adhere to security protocols to safeguard client assets.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience.
• Over 6 years of accounting experience with a strong emphasis on nonprofit work.
• Preferred experience in a multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) setting.
• Proficiency in nonprofit fund accounting, grant management, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex, multi-funder client assignments.
• Experience in supporting or leading audit preparation activities.
• Strong technical skills across various accounting platforms.
• Proven informal leadership or mentorship experience with colleagues.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with nonprofit leaders.
