Senior Accountant, German Market

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely execution.

• Generate and review financial reports utilizing NetSuite.

• Conduct intercompany balance reconciliations and monthly reconciliation activities.

• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in accordance with German regulations.

• Compile annual financial statements following the German Commercial Code (HGB).

• Prepare corporate income tax returns.

• Review and supervise bookkeeping carried out by junior team members, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance.

• Lead and mentor junior accounting staff in daily accounting operations.

• Implement and maintain control procedures for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles.

• Assist with external audits and tax inspections by preparing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.

• Act as the local accounting liaison to Global Accounting, ensuring that German requirements are accurately understood and reflected.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in a senior accounting position, preferably in an international, complex, or rapidly growing organization.

• In-depth knowledge of German accounting standards, the German Commercial Code (HGB), VAT, and statutory reporting obligations.

• Experience in preparing annual financial statements and corporate income tax returns.

• Practical experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.

• Background in reviewing accounting tasks and mentoring junior colleagues.

• Capability to operate both operationally and strategically — from detailed reconciliations to providing advice on accounting implications.

• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

• Strong communication skills with the confidence to collaborate with both local management and global finance teams.

• Proactive, organized, and solution-oriented approach.

• Proficiency in both German and English.
