This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico, +1 more state.
• Supervise the recognition of company revenue as the ASC 606 subject matter authority, which includes high-level reviews, revenue and variance analysis, and contract closeout adjustments.
• Analyze intricate multi-element customer contracts and document the appropriate revenue recognition method.
• Assess and document the revenue recognition processes for fixed-price contracts, online products, software, and commercial sales.
• Provide accounting assistance for both internal and external audit inquiries.
• Transition financial statement and management reporting from Excel spreadsheets to ERP-generated reports.
• Create and validate dashboard reports.
• Assist in the deployment of financial statement projections utilizing enterprise tools.
• Aid in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and financial disclosures.
• Assess the implications of new accounting standards and ensure accurate reporting.
• Identify process inefficiencies and develop standardized accounting procedures.
• Explore AI tools to automate manual accounting processes.
• Collaborate with leadership on daily operational accounting tasks.
• Maintain internal controls and document processes.
• Support external financial audits, as well as internal and government/customer audits.
• Work with auditors to address inquiries and enhance audit preparedness.
• Assist in system upgrade testing, enhancements, and the evaluation or migration of business systems.
• Partner with IT and functional subject matter experts to improve workflows, resolve system challenges, and drive process automation.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in accounting or auditing.
• Alternatively, 3–5 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree.
• Proficient in preparing financial statements utilizing ERP data and reports.
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills across all organizational levels.
• Strong analytical skills to identify problems, propose solutions, and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
• Experience in conducting or assisting auditors and preparing documentation that is ready for audits.
• Professional, dependable, proactive, and dedicated to ongoing learning and enhancement.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
• Active CPA or CMA license or passed exam sections preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing, product sales, or inventory cost accounting preferred.
• Familiarity with large ERP systems like Costpoint, Workday, or Oracle preferred.
• Experience with system implementation or migration preferred.
• Knowledge of AI tools and automation in financial processes preferred.
• Previous exposure to government contracting, including FAR/CAS/DCAA, preferred.
• Working knowledge of corporate financial planning, reporting and analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies preferred.
• Flexible remote or hybrid work options.
