
Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting, Analysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +3 more states.
• Assist with accounting functions and internal financial reporting by executing journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, ongoing reporting, and supporting budgeting efforts.
• Conduct monthly variance analysis and deliver clear, justifiable explanations of the outcomes for Finance leadership and Board reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with the Financial Analyst to aid in budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
• Generate regular departmental and operational financial reports.
• Facilitate ongoing reporting and analytical needs by organizing, maintaining, and scrutinizing financial datasets.
• Provide support for ad hoc reporting and analysis requests as necessary.
• Employ advanced Excel capabilities, such as pivot tables, nested formulas, lookups, SUMIF logic, and managing large data volumes.
• Keep reporting tools, templates, and analytical workbooks created by the Financial Analyst and Finance team up to date.
• Assist in the maintenance of dashboards and reporting tools, including Power BI or comparable systems.
• Accurately prepare and post journal entries, encompassing accruals, reclasses, and adjustments, ensuring complete supporting documentation is available.
• Reconcile designated balance sheet accounts and promptly resolve any reconciling items accurately.
• Contribute to monthly and annual close processes, which includes reviewing and investigating account activity.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution, along with 2 - 4 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience **or** 4 years of relevant experience in place of a degree.
• Proficient in preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, supporting close processes, and executing variance analysis.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver precise, well-supported work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Preferred (not required):
• CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit accounting and/or healthcare nonprofit settings.
• Background in multi-entity environments.
• Familiarity with MIP Fund Accounting.
