This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of daily accounting for a diverse portfolio of intricate construction clients with minimal oversight from the Controller or CFO.
• Maintain advanced job cost structures for projects involving multiple phases and contracts.
• Review and manage monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, incorporating over/under billing analyses.
• Lead the AIA billing procedures, prepare draw requests, and track retainage.
• Oversee subcontractor compliance, ensuring lien waivers, insurance certificates, and 1099 preparations are managed effectively.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements as well as job-level and company-level variance analyses.
• Independently identify and resolve complex discrepancies in job costs and accounting issues.
• Provide informal mentorship to Accountants regarding construction-specific accounting practices.
• Aid in the preparation for workers' compensation audits and insurance reconciliations.
• Create and document process enhancements for the accounting cycles of construction clients.
• Establish and uphold internal controls across client accounts.
• Utilize tools such as code red alerts to detect and prevent fraud.
• Achieve or surpass billable hours targets while ensuring service excellence.
• Complete time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly initiatives.
• Engage in the Brand Ambassador program.
• Adhere to security protocols to safeguard client assets.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on the construction industry.
• Previous experience in a multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) setting is highly preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge in job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Proven capability to independently manage complex, multi-project client assignments.
• Proficient in construction accounting software such as Sage, Procore, QuickBooks, ComputerEase, COINS, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated experience in providing informal mentorship or knowledge-sharing with junior team members.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly with construction business owners.
