This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Support the manager in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile account balances and generate month-end journal entries, along with closing reports.
• Conduct monthly and year-to-date analyses of account balances and report budget discrepancies.
• Assist in year-end audits, benefit plan audits, and tax compliance filings.
• Coordinate intercompany entries and reconciliations with affiliate accounting teams.
• Aid in supervising and training junior staff accountants.
• Review monthly financial statements including Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, and graphical data.
• Conduct month-end closing reviews, research discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments.
• Prepare ratio calculations and other periodic financial analyses.
• Complete monthly eliminations and cash flow reports.
• Maintain records for temporary and restricted funds, and reconcile net assets accordingly.
• Oversee the automated general ledger system and account/report structures.
• Allocate rent expenses and record entries accurately.
• Analyze monthly Profit & Loss statements for parent and property corporations.
• Manage accounts receivable, prepaid accounts, and lease agreements.
• Calculate and record depreciation while inputting new capital expenditures.
• Record monthly audit accruals and reconcile designated accounts.
• Collaborate with auditors during interim and year-end auditing processes.
• Safeguard, reconcile, and replenish petty cash; complete quarterly cash flow reports for the hospital.
• Prepare, review, and file tax returns and extension forms.
• Reconcile the general ledger and evaluate reconciliations performed by staff accountants.
• Assist with software upgrades, accounting policies, procedures, projects, and initiatives.
• Educate managers and staff on computerized accounting systems and accrual methodologies.
• Recommend improvements to operational processes and oversee cost and process metrics.
• Apply relevant regulations, industry trends, best practices, and applicable laws.
• Foster collaborative relationships with accounting, finance, and other departments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Three (3) years of general accounting experience or one (1) year in healthcare-specific accounting.
• Preferred: five (5) years of general accounting experience or three (3) years in healthcare-specific accounting.
• Strong analytical skills for account analysis and reconciliation.
• Effective interpersonal skills for engaging with managers, banks, and staff members.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficient communication, judgment, and constructive interaction with staff and department heads.
• Demonstrated experience in teamwork.
• Ability to operate independently in a complex, dynamic environment.
• Capacity to perform sedentary office work and occasionally lift/move items up to 25 pounds.
