This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Project management: Independently planning, executing, and overseeing accounting and back-office projects.
• Accounting & Financial Statements: Managing ongoing bookkeeping and preparing monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with HGB (German Commercial Code / German GAAP).
• Interim roles: Taking on project responsibilities, such as serving as Interim Team Lead Accounting.
• Tax & regulatory tasks: Preparing VAT pre-declarations (USt‑Voranmeldungen), OSS filings, and providing support during tax audits.
• Optimization & digitization: Identifying and implementing efficient finance processes, automations, and suitable tools.
• Stakeholder management: Collaborating with tax advisors, CFOs, tax authorities, and other relevant interfaces.
• Project-based client work: Mostly remote, with on-site presence required as needed.
• Several years of experience in financial/accounting (general ledger) accounting — ideally in an SME, startup, or consulting firm.
• A degree or vocational training in business, finance, mathematics, or a related field is advantageous but not compulsory.
• Strong knowledge of at least one accounting or ERP system (e.g., DATEV Rechnungswesen, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) along with experience using modern finance tools (e.g., Spendesk, Pleo, Circula).
• Additional certifications (for instance, Bilanzbuchhalter / certified balance sheet accountant) are beneficial but not essential.
• Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets and possess an independent, structured working style with a focus on optimization opportunities.
• Experience in process automation and optimization, as well as tool implementation.
• Good communication skills in German (approximately C1) and English (approximately B2).
• You enjoy diverse project work and are willing to assist clients remotely or, depending on the project, occasionally on-site.
