This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Manage designated areas of the month-end closing process, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records.
• Execute journal entries, account reconciliations, and prepare supporting schedules.
• Generate both internal and external financial statements along with accompanying schedules.
• Conduct monthly variance and fluctuation analysis for specified P&L and balance sheet accounts, including detailed explanations of the underlying factors.
• Guarantee proper adherence to U.S. GAAP across all assigned accounting treatments.
• Oversee balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve any reconciling items and discrepancies.
• Perform tie-outs between subledger and general ledger, addressing any discrepancies at the source.
• Assist in daily cash positioning and monthly bank reconciliations for operating accounts.
• Contribute to cash forecasting and monitor liquidity in relation to operational requirements.
• Carry out cash flow analysis and share insights with management.
• Collaborate with banking partners regarding account activities, exceptions, and setups.
• Enhance accounting processes, controls, and the efficiency of the closing cycle.
• Participate in accounting system enhancements, implementations, and automation initiatives.
• Uphold accounting policies, procedures, and closing checklists.
• Work in partnership with Operations, Legal, Product, and FP&A teams.
• Collaborate with management to offer insights for business decision-making.
• Communicate accounting implications to stakeholders outside the accounting domain.
• Support interdepartmental projects and process enhancements.
• Act as a primary contact for external auditors and prepare necessary audit schedules.
• Address inquiries from auditors.
• Liaise with various U.S. states regarding sales tax compliance, filings, audits, and inquiries.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and analyses.
• Remain updated on accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a corporate or in-house accounting role.
• Proven ownership of month-end closing areas, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and meeting closing deadlines.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger in an ERP environment (NetSuite preferred).
• Experience in preparing account reconciliations and financial statements, along with explaining variances to management.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, handling large data sets).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in line with a fixed closing calendar.
• Meticulous attention to detail ensuring a high level of accuracy.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
