Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Take ownership of critical tasks during the monthly and quarterly closing processes, which include reconciliations, journal entries, balance-sheet analysis, reporting, and addressing discrepancies or unusual activities.

• Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of VARA regulatory reports, ensuring data quality through checks, reconciliations, reporting controls, and maintaining audit trails.

• Implement and enhance SOX controls, keep process documentation and evidence up to date, and provide support for Internal Audit and external audit inquiries and remediation efforts.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the launch of new products and business initiatives, ensuring accounting and regulatory compliance from the outset.

• Analyze fund flows, assess the impacts on legal entities, establish posting rules, and oversee the design of ledgers and subledgers, reconciliations, testing, and launch readiness for new products.

• Recognize and implement opportunities to automate and scale accounting operations through technology and process enhancements.

• Proactively identify accounting, reporting, regulatory, and operational risks, driving issues towards resolution.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership, audit, financial services, fintech, capital markets, exchange, custody, clearing, or digital assets.

• Extensive experience with monthly closures, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls.

• Familiarity with SOX regulations, regulatory reporting, process documentation, control testing, or remediation efforts.

• Capability to comprehend end-to-end transaction flows and evaluate impacts across legal entities, systems, ledgers, and reporting outputs.

• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Capacity to work independently across various international time zones.

• Preferred familiarity with derivatives, digital assets, OmniLedger/ABOR, NetSuite, SQL, or financial analytics tools.

• Responsible utilization of generative AI with appropriate human oversight.

• CPA, CA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.

• Preference for candidates with exposure to VARA regulations.
