Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Vermont.

📋 Description

• Execute all accounting functions for designated captive insurance entities, which includes maintaining the general ledger, performing reconciliations, and generating tailored financial and management reports.

• Compile and examine monthly and quarterly financial statement packages in compliance with GAAP, SAP, and modified GAAP, as necessary.

• Oversee cash operations, investment transactions, and intercompany dealings to ensure precision and adherence to regulations.

• Develop budgets, forecasts, and on-demand financial analyses to meet client and internal reporting requirements.

• Prepare and submit regulatory filings, such as premium tax returns, NAIC Blank Forms, and other specific documents for captive insurance entities based on their domicile.

• Act as the main accounting liaison for regulatory issues across both onshore and offshore locations.

• Lead the preparation for audits and conduct thorough review processes.

• Collaborate and communicate with external service providers, including auditors, actuaries, and tax consultants.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.

• At least 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within captive insurance, insurance, or financial services.

• Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and insurance accounting practices.

• Proven ability to handle multiple clients and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client service capabilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and enterprise accounting software.

• Preferred: CPA designation.

• Experience with captive insurance firms and various regulatory environments.
