This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and revenue recognition entries, in compliance with GAAP and ASC 606.
• Facilitate the month-end and quarter-end closing process, contributing to a continuous close model to ensure deadlines are met.
• Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
• Maintain and analyze deferred revenue schedules along with other revenue-related accounts.
• Spearhead the adoption and processing of deferred commissions in line with US GAAP.
• Drive the adoption and processing of internally developed software in accordance with US GAAP.
• Assist with technical accounting research and documentation, including memos that support significant judgments and transactions.
• Collaborate with the CFO and CEO to guarantee precise and timely financial reporting.
• Execute monthly flux analysis and ensure detailed revenue by customer and billings are prepared promptly.
• Support ad hoc projects and financial analysis as required, including assistance for private equity reporting obligations.
• Oversee accounts payable operations, ensuring timely review and reconciliation of invoices and vendor payments.
• Identify and implement process enhancements across accounting workflows, leveraging AI and automation to optimize the close process, reinforce controls, and maintain consistency as the lean team expands.
• Aid in preparing supporting schedules and documentation for external audits and tax returns in collaboration with external firms.
• Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of customer contracts for non-standard arrangements to establish appropriate revenue recognition treatment per ASC 606.
• Engage in cross-functional initiatives aimed at streamlining and automating processes and reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA license is highly preferred.
• Experience in public accounting is preferred.
• Experience in the software or SaaS industry is required.
• Must be located in the United States, specifically in the Eastern time zone.
• Capability to implement continuous close principles to support a zero-day close.
• Hands-on experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition is required.
• Proficiency with NetSuite, Sage, and/or Campfire is required.
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and comprehensive knowledge of the full close cycle.
• High proficiency in Excel; experience with Netsuite is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI and automation tools to facilitate scalable accounting operations and processes.
• Highly organized, reliable, and adept at managing competing deadlines without compromising accuracy.
