Senior Accountant, Accounting Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of budget versus actuals reporting, collaborating directly with department leaders to clarify variances and keep them updated on their expenditures.

• Oversee the complete operating expense cycle, which includes vendor bill payments (AP), managing the corporate card program, and processing employee travel and expense reimbursements.

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations for operating expense accounts as part of the month-end closing process, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

• Support federal and state reporting obligations and tax filings, including corporate tax returns, sales tax registrations and filings, as well as 1099s.

• Collaborate with department heads to enhance their tracking and forecasting of budgets.

• Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements across AP, T&E, and closing functions, utilizing tools such as Ramp, Navan, and Rillet.

• Assist with various ad hoc requests and projects, including system automations, process improvements, and investigating technical accounting issues.

• Report directly to the Senior Director of Finance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a rapidly growing software or technology startup.

• Direct involvement in AP, corporate card programs, and/or T&E processes — not merely a supporting function.

• Proficiency with contemporary finance tools such as Ramp, Stripe, and Navan.

• Strong skills in Excel and spreadsheets, including the ability to build and maintain budget versus actuals models.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• CPA certification or actively pursuing it (preferred).

• Experience with Rillet (preferred).

• Familiarity with BI tools like Looker (preferred).

• Must be authorized to work in the United States of America.
