This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +2 more states.
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of GitLab's leave of absence programs, which includes managing documentation intake, reporting leave wages to non-US payroll teams, accurately processing cases in Workday and related systems, and ensuring timely completion of requests.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes regarding time off and convert them into policy, process, and handbook revisions, while identifying compliance gaps and engaging relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor leave requests within the internal human resources information system (HRIS), pinpoint dependencies and root causes, and propose enhancements to compliance, reporting, and the overall team member experience.
• Act as the main point of contact for team members during their departure, leave, accommodation, and return-to-work procedures.
• Address complex inquiries related to time away by collaborating with managers, People Business Partners, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, external partners, and other stakeholders, providing clear context and actionable recommendations.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives involving HRIS configuration, vendor implementation, and process reengineering to enhance program infrastructure and scalability.
• Update policies, processes, and guidance, and disseminate best practices that boost consistency and efficiency.
• Analyze leave volume and program data to uncover operational risks, guide resourcing choices, and suggest program enhancements, including the responsible application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for documentation, reporting, workflow efficiency, and data quality, while ensuring privacy and compliance.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to clarify complex concepts, provide context, and direct stakeholders towards sound decisions.
• Proven experience managing global leave and accommodation programs, as well as resolving intricate cases in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders and external partners.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, capable of evaluating information from various sources, assessing trade-offs, and making recommendations that align with team objectives.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to independently handle a significant volume of sensitive and time-sensitive work with consistent follow-through.
• Experience in meeting tight deadlines, balancing urgent and important tasks, and driving issues to resolution with determination and accountability.
• Background in navigating a dynamic global environment and fostering productive relationships across distributed teams and stakeholder groups.
• Familiarity with Workday, including supporting or informing leave type configurations and HRIS design decisions with People Tech, along with strong proficiency in Google Workspace.
• Experience utilizing GitLab tools for documentation maintenance and employing AI tools responsibly to enhance workflows, documentation, and reporting without compromising quality, confidentiality, or compliance.
