Security Operations Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee and evaluate security events and alerts utilizing Elastic Security SIEM.

• Perform vulnerability assessments with Tenable SC and evaluate cloud workloads through Tenable Cloud Security.

• Administer and implement endpoint security policies via Trellix ePO or Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).

• Supervise network security operations across Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls.

• Examine secure access traffic using Zscaler Private Access and Internet Access.

• Identify, document, and escalate security incidents in accordance with established response protocols.

• Create continuous monitoring reports and assist in the development of security posture dashboards.

• Monitor and report on security KPIs to program leadership.

• Provide support for critical DoD systems and defense operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance is required.

• 3–5 years of experience in a security operations or SOC setting.

• Practical experience with a SIEM platform; preference for Elastic Security.

• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools; Tenable SC is preferred.

• Knowledge of network security monitoring and firewall technologies.

• DoD 8140.03M DCWF Basic Tier Certification — one of: CC, GDSA, or GISF.

• DoD 8140 Interim Education Options available.

• Must be willing to travel to Scott Airforce Base quarterly.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering.

• Elastic Certified Analyst or Elastic Certified Engineer is preferred.

• Experience with Palo Alto NGFW or Zscaler platforms is advantageous.

• Exposure to cloud workload security monitoring is beneficial.

• DoD 8140.03M DCWF Intermediate Tier — one of: CEH(P), ECIH, GRID, RCCE Level 1, CBROPS, CCSP, CEH, Cloud+, FITSP-O, GCED, GCIH, GSEC, PenTest+, or Security+.
