Secondary Science Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• This role involves collaborating with Missouri Connections Academy.

• Working from your home office in Missouri, certified Teachers will oversee instructional programs in a virtual setting.

• Utilizing telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools, you will regularly consult with learning coaches and students to ensure each child successfully completes their instructional program.

• The Secondary Teacher will be accountable for the successful execution of the following tasks:

• Timely completion of grading, creation of progress reports, and conducting parent conferences;

• Enhance the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction;

• Assess curriculum and develop alternative methods for presenting lessons to improve student comprehension (working directly with students and parents);

• Maintain regular communication with parents, students, and fellow teachers to create and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, recommend instructional strategies, track assignment completion, and guide special projects;

• Collaborate with other teachers to ensure all students are effectively advancing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that responsibilities are shared among teachers;

• Acquire a general understanding of the entire K-12 curriculum while developing an in-depth knowledge of the courses for which you are responsible;

• Assist students and parents with alternative strategies and provide additional support with daily assignments and projects;

• Maintain regular communication with parents, students, and curriculum specialists via computer and telephone;

• Keep student records and data current, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance tracking, and documenting all student and parent interactions;

• Work collaboratively with other teachers and learning specialists to create alternative enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to enhance understanding;

• Coordinate with fellow teachers for social activities and relevant field trips for students;

• Manage regional field trips and integrate them into the curriculum effectively;

• Develop and implement virtual methods for fostering a “school community”;

• Participate in the organization and administration of State Testing, including in-person proctoring of the State Test at various locations across Missouri;

• Engage in student recruitment sessions and other marketing initiatives that require teacher representation;

• Collaborate with Advisory Teachers and School Counselors to ensure adequate communication for students and families, monitor student progress, and meet established goals;

• Attend and engage in in-person training sessions and team-building activities scheduled throughout the academic year, locations to be determined;

• Participate in field trips and other community activities organized for families;

• and perform other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Highly qualified and certified to teach Secondary Science in Missouri, appropriate to grade level and content area responsibilities.

• Experience with Professional Learning Communities.

• Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs.

• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

• Customer-focused approach.

• High degree of flexibility.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Track record of being a team player.

• Willingness to occasionally travel for marketing and state testing events, which may involve overnight stays.

• Ability to work remotely, if needed.

• Capability to work some occasional evening hours to support families.

• Must be able to utilize a personal electronic device and email address for two-step authentication.
