SDE III – Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete project lifecycle by managing RFCs, as well as creating high-level and low-level design documents and execution plans.

• Develop, construct, and uphold highly concurrent, low-latency backend systems capable of managing extensive transactional throughput.

• Shape technical choices and project trajectories utilizing Ruby on Rails, Go, and various other backend technologies.

• Produce clean, performance-optimized, and maintainable code.

• Enhance database performance, query execution, and caching strategies through PostgreSQL, Redis, and similar technologies.

• Ensure data consistency across microservices.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, DevOps, and engineering teams on integrations and user experiences.

• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers.

• Evaluate complex pull requests.

• Identify system bottlenecks and resolve root causes of infrastructure challenges.

• Advocate for automated testing, observability, tracing, metrics, and CI/CD automation.

• Identify opportunities for organizational enhancement and recommend technical alternatives.

• Balance immediate feature delivery with long-term architectural integrity.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of extensive, non-internship professional software development experience in dynamic product startups or high-scale tech enterprises.

• Proficient knowledge of Ruby on Rails.

• Significant experience and expertise in Go (Golang).

• Experience in developing high-performance APIs and multi-threaded systems.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, networks, concurrency control, and the trade-offs of the CAP theorem.

• High proficiency with PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, gRPC, and MVC architecture.

• Proven ability to deliver high-quality software while balancing reliability, scalability, security, and usability needs.

• A tendency to prioritize early shipping and iterate through small, incremental changes.

• Competence in navigating ambiguity, establishing clear technical expectations, managing stakeholders, and succeeding in a fast-paced setting.

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

• Familiarity with additional backend technologies and frameworks.

• Experience in database design, optimization, and query performance tuning.

• Proven experience in influencing technical decisions and driving positive organizational changes.
