This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Instruct 11-week live, online courses employing engaging, student-focused instructional methods.
• Conduct synchronous online classes utilizing dynamic, student-centered teaching strategies.
• Create and facilitate inquiry-based, accessible lab experiences in a fully online format using digital tools.
• Cultivate an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages active learning and student involvement.
• Teach scientific reasoning, evidence assessment, and empirical thinking as transferable intellectual skills.
• Consistently establish real-world connections so students understand the relevance of their learning.
• Remain updated on trends in science pedagogy, online lab tools, and strategies for teaching nontraditional learners.
• Provide prompt, constructive feedback and address student inquiries within 24 hours.
• Host weekly office hours to enhance student understanding and foster community.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to jointly manage the course, including mentoring the TA on effective grading and student engagement techniques.
• Assess student progress, maintain grade records, and submit evaluations at mid-quarter and end-of-quarter.
• Partner with colleagues and Campus staff to exchange best practices and continuously enhance instructional quality.
• Contribute to co-curricular programming (e.g., speaker series, networking events) to enrich the student experience.
• Stay informed about industry and pedagogy trends relevant to your subject area and online instruction.
• Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Science, Life Sciences, Science Education, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching science at the college level.
• Proven ability to design and facilitate meaningful lab experiences in a fully online setting.
• Strong foundational knowledge in environmental science and/or biology at the introductory college level.
• Experience in teaching scientific reasoning and evidence assessment as transferable intellectual skills.
• Comfort in teaching students with varying levels of scientific knowledge and confidence.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain concepts in multiple ways until they resonate.
• Proactive, dependable, and dedicated to delivering high-quality online education.
• Passionate about equity, access, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
• Available to dedicate 8–10 hours per week per course, with some flexibility for training sessions.
