This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Communicate with educators and parents regarding dissection and advocate for humane alternatives in classrooms across the country.
• Support outreach efforts to educators seeking funding for dissection through Donors Choose.
• Establish and nurture relationships with school district leaders and key decision-makers to secure opportunities for pilot programs.
• Travel to represent TeachKind and engage in outreach at science educator conferences.
• Address additional science-related inquiries, including chick-hatching initiatives and bottle biology projects.
• Conduct research on schools, districts, and other institutions to identify chances to replace animals currently utilized for dissection.
• Keep track of sources for opportunities to provide humane science alternatives instead of using animals.
• Actively seek out and reach out to schools to advocate for the cessation of dissection practices.
• Create and manage content for the TeachKind section of PETA.org that pertains to dissection.
• Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
• A background in science education, with at least one year of classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding the use of animals in science education.
• Familiarity with scientific terminology and virtual dissection software is essential.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, including strong grammar and sentence structure, along with knowledge of animal liberation issues.
• Proficient in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
• Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are required.
• Strong phone etiquette, as you will engage with educators and parents to discuss alternatives to animal dissection.
• Proven capability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Professional demeanor and commitment to maintaining a healthy vegan lifestyle.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
• Must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid U.S. driver's license, have a minimum of three years of driving experience, and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
