This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Provide guidance to students and families concerning academic matters, career planning, and graduation.
• Stay updated on all high school graduation criteria, including unique requirements like community service.
• Assist students and parents in selecting secondary school courses based on state credit and graduation prerequisites, as well as individual student needs and interests.
• Counsel students on matters regarding course withdrawals and schedule changes.
• Evaluate student transcripts and ensure accurate entry of credits in the online transcript system.
• Collaborate with administrative staff to retrieve school records from the student's prior institution.
• Develop and implement programs for students and families addressing interpersonal adjustment challenges.
• Partner with school teams to identify and connect families with school and community resources.
• Engage in the formulation of crisis prevention and management strategies for the school.
• Coordinate with a team of middle and high school educators to identify students who are deemed “at risk” or “in crisis.”
• Serve as the primary liaison for these students and their families.
• Supervise and uphold the Personal Learning Plan (PLP) for each student.
• Report and refer significant incidents that threaten student welfare.
• Support teachers in accommodating students who enroll mid-semester.
• Assist students in researching and comprehending their post-secondary career and educational possibilities.
• Inform students and parents about the requirements for college admissions and financial aid options.
• Valid Minnesota certification in School Counseling.
• Proficient in technology, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
• Outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written.
• Customer-oriented mindset.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• High level of adaptability.
• Collaborative team player with proven leadership capabilities.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events, which may involve overnight stays.
