This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provides crisis counseling services through telephone and chat platforms.
• Collaborates with shift supervisors to answer, manage, screen, and perform risk assessments on crisis calls.
• Acts as a mandated reporter in situations involving suspected abuse.
• Ensures the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive call reports.
• Completes continuing education requirements as mandated by the agency and the Suicide Prevention Center program.
• Aids in training new counselors and volunteers.
• Engages in community outreach and/or media events, including resource tables and presentations on suicide prevention.
• Participates in regularly scheduled meetings as requested or as required for the Suicide Prevention Center.
• Proficiency in the required language for the assigned program (Spanish).
• At least six months of relevant behavioral health experience, with a preference for one year of experience in crisis intervention or suicide prevention.
• Must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to engage empathetically with individuals from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate high emotional intelligence.
• Excellent multi-tasking and time management abilities, capable of advancing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Proven ability to effectively navigate web-based platforms, electronic documentation systems, and communication tools, with strong typing and data entry skills necessary for real-time documentation.
• Must have high-speed internet with an active Ethernet connection, and a quiet, confidential workspace.
• Should be empathetic, flexible, and adaptable to various situations.
• Availability and flexibility to work within the program’s operating hours, including weekends and holidays, is required.
• Must be reliable and adhere to schedules based on program needs.
• Completion of yearly mandatory continuing education training is required.
• Knowledge of job-specific skills, including safety assessment, data collection, and triage, is necessary.
• A goal-oriented team player with substantial experience in large and complex systems.
• Commitment to team objectives and the philosophies of Didi Hirsch.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment screening, including a background check and live scan fingerprinting.
