School Based Occupational Therapist, Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for students facing fine motor, sensory processing, or related issues that impact classroom activities, social interactions, literacy, and learning.

• Tailor support to meet the specific needs outlined in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

• Obtain licensure in multiple states as required and provide services to students across various schools.

• Oversee the work of up to 2 Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs).

• Collaborate with parents and teachers to create schedules that promote student attendance and engagement.

• Generate progress reports and documentation specific to state special education requirements.

• Offer necessary accommodations and modifications, including assistive technology, supplemental curricula, and accessible texts.

• Ensure adherence to state, school, and company regulations.

• Conduct individual treatment and group therapy sessions.

• Perform online occupational therapy assessments.

• Evaluate student learning environments and identify needed adjustments to ensure access to Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).

• Compose assessment reports, set student goals and objectives, design treatment strategies, and maintain progress records.

• Engage in IEP meetings.

• Collaborate with the IEP team to create occupational therapy treatment plans.

• Attend meetings with school personnel and families to align occupational therapy goals with educational objectives.

• Organize and maintain files and records, including progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and evaluations.

• Gather data and work samples to track progress toward IEP goals and objectives.

• Document communications with parents and interventions with students.

• Provide stimulating educational experiences tailored to individual learning needs.

• Establish and nurture positive relationships with families and maintain communication with students and learning coaches/parents.

• Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars.

• Build and sustain relationships with students, caregivers, and school staff.

• Be accessible to students, caregivers, and staff during designated work hours.

• Operate from a professional home office that supports video and audio requirements and a structured schedule.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a resident of the US.

• Current Occupational Therapist licensure in at least one state.

• At least 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT) in a public school setting.

• Ability to work autonomously.

• Availability for a minimum of 20 hours per week during standard school hours.

• Capacity to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during the workday, typically from 9–5 as determined by the school and time zone.

• Experience in teaching within an online or virtual setting.

• Strong knowledge of assistive technology.

• Comprehensive understanding of content and subject matter.

• Ability to support and mentor both adults and students.

• Open to receiving ongoing coaching from administrators.

• Capacity to adapt to change to achieve excellent student outcomes.

• Competence in creating and delivering staff development programs.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.

• Proficient in MS365.

• Ability to pass the required background check.
