Scala Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services that are highly scalable and resilient, utilizing Scala.

• Create event-driven, distributed systems by leveraging Akka and Kafka.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify, design, and implement new features that provide tangible product value.

• Participate in architectural decisions and continually enhance our backend stack with new tools and industry best practices.

• Diagnose production issues, optimize system performance, and actively promote enhancements.

• Share expertise with colleagues, mentor junior developers, and help elevate the technical standards within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in Scala with practical, hands-on experience.

• Familiarity with Akka/Pekko: You can naturally build resilient, distributed event-driven systems.

• Experience with Kafka, including event streaming, messaging patterns, and integration with microservices.

• A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in Scala or project management.

• Product-oriented mindset: You consider impact, user value, and business outcomes in your thinking.

• Excellent communication skills: You can clearly articulate both technical and product concepts.

• Comfort in ambiguity: When faced with unclear requirements, you ask the right questions, align with stakeholders, and determine the best path forward.
