
Safety and Occupational Health Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Offer expert advice on occupational safety, hazard management, and compliance with regulations.
β’ Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in various safety domains, including construction, electrical safety, fall protection, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hazard analysis.
β’ Perform inspections, investigations, and risk evaluations; create corrective action plans.
β’ Examine incidents, determine root causes, and propose preventive strategies.
β’ Analyze construction and project plans to verify safety compliance.
β’ Design and implement safety policies, guidelines, and training programs.
β’ Facilitate tracking, reporting, and ongoing improvement of the national safety program.
β’ Represent GSA in discussions with agencies, regulators, and stakeholders.
β’ Maintain safety data and records, ensuring adherence to federal standards.
β’ Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, or a related field; or a degree complemented by at least 24 semester hours in relevant scientific or technical disciplines.
β’ At least five years of pertinent scientific or technical experience in occupational safety and health.
β’ Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) is preferred.
β’ In-depth understanding of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) concepts, principles, laws, regulations, and codes.
β’ Technical authority-level expertise in occupational safety, building construction practices, hazardous materials, industrial processes, and safety systems.
β’ Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
β’ Broad knowledge of hazardous work operations across various facility types.
β’ Strong oral and written communication abilities.
β’ Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
