Rust Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop the inference engine along with other essential components of the model stack using Rust.

• Guide projects from the initial architectural choices all the way through to production deployment.

• Design the communication methods between components and services while assigning system responsibilities.

• Construct asynchronous Rust systems capable of handling concurrent workloads and low-latency streaming audio.

• Identify performance bottlenecks and enhance latency, throughput, and resource utilization.

• Create software that is testable, debuggable, and reliable for production use.

• Enhance tools, documentation, and development methodologies.

• Assume ownership of Rust projects and contribute to defining the overall system architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Rust, focusing on ownership, borrowing, composition, and idiomatic design patterns.

• Solid background in async Rust, including working on concurrent applications, synchronization, cancellation, and backpressure.

• Familiarity with building and operating microservice architectures.

• A startup mindset with the ability to navigate an early-stage codebase comfortably.

• A strong desire to shape products, architect solutions, and take complete ownership of projects.

• Understanding of actor systems and experience utilizing actors to organize concurrent applications.

• Background in real-time systems, whether in embedded environments or the cloud.

• Experience with interoperability between C/C++ and Rust, including generating Rust bindings using bindgen.

• Knowledge of CUDA or GPU computing.

• Contributions to open-source projects.

• Familiarity with Python.

• Experience in lower-level performance engineering, including debugging memory leaks or analyzing performance at the machine instruction level.

• Proficiency in spoken and written German is a plus.
