Rural Land Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Identify and secure new land opportunities for the development of Habitat Banks by engaging with landowners and agents.

• Prioritize the establishment of Habitat Banks based on the demand for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) credits from Local Authorities and known purchaser interest, incorporating insights from the sales team.

• Conduct thorough due diligence to assess site suitability for Habitat Bank development, collaborating with internal departments such as ecology, project delivery, legal, and finance.

• Navigate sites through internal governance processes, gathering and analyzing data to support targeted Habitat Bank creation, which includes reviewing local plan policies, agri-environment schemes, and pertinent market sector reports.

• Collaborate within a project team to develop the Habitat, oversee capital works, and aid in the ongoing site management while maintaining regular communication with landowners.

• Manage and execute the planning and consent procedures necessary for habitat creation.

• Represent the Environment Bank by engaging in regional and national marketing events to promote Habitat Bank creation among farmers and landowners.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience working directly with farmers and landowners in a professional context.

• Experience in rural land management is an advantage, though not mandatory.

• Ideally possess a working knowledge of Farm Business Tenancies and relevant environmental issues associated with rural land management.

• Some familiarity with utilizing Land Registry and other publicly accessible legal and land management data sources.

• Project management experience is beneficial, particularly within the environmental sector.

• MRICS or CAAV qualification is essential.

• A full UK clean driving license and a willingness to travel for regional site visits and events are required.
