RN Pharmacy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Utilizes evidence-based tools to assess prescribed medications, ensuring that patient safety and quality standards align with best practices.

• Conducts clinical assessments using information from pharmacy reports and case files, evaluating the client's circumstances, including psychosocial needs, cultural factors, and existing support systems.

• Analyzes patient medication usage and physician prescribing habits.

• Assesses overuse, underuse, and misuse of prescribed medications and may suggest testing to detect potential drug diversion.

• Determines the necessity for and recommends alternative treatment options.

• Corresponds with prescribing physician(s) as needed and refers to a physician advisor when necessary.

• Negotiates the appropriate level and intensity of care using medical and disability duration guidelines, while adhering to quality assurance standards.

• Engages with providers to negotiate modifications in the pharmacy plan.

• Serves as a resource for clients, nursing staff, and claims examiners regarding pharmacy-related issues.

• Conducts drug utilization reviews through the pharmacy benefit manager or vendor.

• Effectively communicates with claims examiners, clients, vendors, supervisors, and other relevant parties as required.

• Ensures client privacy and confidentiality, promotes client safety and advocacy, and complies with ethical, legal, accreditation, and regulatory standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active, unrestricted RN license in a state or territory of the United States is required.

• A Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience is preferred.

• Certification in case management, pharmacy, rehabilitation nursing, or a related specialty is highly preferred.

• A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience, including two (2) years of direct clinical care or two (2) years in case management/utilization management, is required.
