This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more states.
• Oversee merchant activities to identify risks related to fraud, compliance, reputation, operations, ACH, chargebacks, and transactions, investigating any flagged activities such as held transactions, substantial purchases, refunds, duplicate transactions, excessive authorizations/declines, suspicious processing behaviors, and emerging risk trends.
• Execute merchant risk assessments and ensure comprehensive documentation of cases, investigations, outreach, escalations, follow-ups, and resolutions within Salesforce.
• Supervise reviews of bank account changes, which include validation, verification, approvals, system updates, quality control, and continuous post-change monitoring for suspicious activities, refunds, returns, chargebacks, and other elevated risk indicators.
• Assist in ongoing merchant monitoring initiatives, including website evaluations, LegitScript screenings, alert investigations, negative media analyses, sanctions screenings, regulatory concerns, prohibited activity assessments, and escalation of significant findings.
• Conduct enhanced due diligence and monitoring for high-risk industries, MCCs, NEC classifications, non-profits, firearms/ammunition vendors, and other restricted or sensitive business categories.
• Track chargeback, ACH, and NACHA-related activities, including return rates, unauthorized and administrative returns, recurring payment activities, threshold monitoring, trend analysis, and remediation efforts in collaboration with merchants, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with periodic KYC/KYB updates, merchant portfolio evaluations, and documentation validation to ensure continuous compliance and alignment with business models.
• Maintain risk monitoring logs, investigation documentation, reporting dashboards, and tracking tools while generating regular reports on monitoring activities, escalations, investigations, high-risk merchants, and emerging portfolio trends.
• Clearly and objectively document investigations, including findings, evidence, risk assessments, decisions, ownership, and suggested next steps, escalating critical fraud, compliance, sanctions, regulatory, or operational risks to leadership as necessary.
• Contribute to risk process enhancements, reporting improvements, underwriting initiatives, and other operational projects while fulfilling additional tasks assigned by leadership to address evolving business needs.
• Function effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities, workloads, procedures, risk controls, regulatory requirements, and business initiatives.
• Assume accountability for new responsibilities, assist with cross-functional projects, and undertake various tasks assigned by management to align with the organization's evolving requirements.
• 1–3 years of experience in risk operations, underwriting, payment operations, fraud monitoring, banking operations, compliance operations, or a comparable role.
• Proficient understanding of payment processing workflows, merchant accounts, transaction monitoring, chargebacks, ACH returns, refunds, and risk flags.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the capacity to validate documentation, identify discrepancies, and maintain precise case notes and trackers.
• Capability to manage multiple ongoing reviews, follow-ups, escalations, and time-sensitive cases simultaneously.
• Strong written communication abilities, including the capacity to articulate clearly with partners, merchants, and internal stakeholders.
• Comfortable using CRM/case management tools, spreadsheets, and operational tracking systems.
• Ability to adhere to documented procedures while identifying gaps, control weaknesses, or opportunities for process enhancement.
• Good judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive merchant, banking, fraud, and compliance data.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Risk, Underwriting, Onboarding, Merchant Support, Finance, Product, and partner-facing teams.
• Working knowledge of ACH processing, NACHA Operating Rules, ACH return codes, unauthorized return thresholds, administrative returns, and best practices for ACH risk monitoring.
• Capability to review and investigate ACH-related risk indicators, including unusual return activities, account validation concerns, transaction anomalies, and merchant processing trends.
